Stokes Bay Bruce Peninsula is a mixture of
permanent residents, cottagers, rental cottages, camp sites and even a
popular Sports camp for kids and teens.
Located across Hwy 6 from Lions Head, this community is found on the
Lake Huron side of the Bruce Peninsula.
The shoreline has spots with white sand beaches, and many small islands
just offshore.
For us driving up to Stokes Bay was more about dropping off and picking
up our son every year at Celtic Camp.
He spent a few weeks there every summer until his early teen years
learning things like how to sail, kayak and canoe, basketball and
swimming.
Celtic Camp has their own beach and kids from around the world come
here in the summer.
Stokes Bay Cottage Rentals & Camp sites
For many Stokes Bay is more about a cottage vacation. There are so many
from which to choose!
Heron Point has a number of small rental cabins on their property as
well as spaces for trailers but no overnight tenting. There is
waterfront access but if you want to beach you will have to go to many
of the nearby options.
Tamarac Island Resort has cottage rentals and a motel. There is docking
for boats if you are approaching from the water and road access from
the mainland. My sister and her husband have docked near Tamarac Island
on their way up to Tobermory as the islands protect from the open
waters.
Other camp and cottage sites are Whispering Cedars which has a mixture
of serviced and non-serviced trailer and camp sites, plus rental
cottages and trailers.
There is also Lakeside Rainbow park which again has a mixture of tent,
trailer and cottage rentals as well as Bayhaven Camp.
Stokes Bay Beaches
One of the best beaches in the area is found at Black Creek Provincial
Park. There are white sand beaches, lots of public parking and public
toilets. There is no life guard on duty but you get a great view of all
the islands in the area.
